Terms of Use
Last updated: August 30, 2026
These terms apply to the Kitchive iOS application ("the app"). By using the app you agree to them. In addition, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.
The service
Kitchive is a personal recipe app. The recipes you save belong to you and are stored on your device — and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud. We provide no account system and host none of your content. The one server Kitchive runs exists to hand an import to an AI provider and return the answer; it keeps no copy of what passes through it, as the privacy policy describes.
Recipes read or proposed by AI
- When the app reads a link, a paste or a photograph with AI, the result is a draft for you to check. Lines the model was unsure of are marked; nothing is saved without you seeing it first.
- A recipe proposed from a photograph of a dish is a suggestion of what that dish usually takes, marked as such throughout. Amounts, times and temperatures are estimates, not something anyone wrote down.
- You are responsible for checking a recipe before you cook it — in particular for allergens, dietary needs, and the safe handling and cooking of food. The app cannot know what is on your plate or in your kitchen.
Content you import
Links, captions and pages you import are read for your own personal use, the way a browser would open them. The rights to that content stay with its creators; Kitchive records where a recipe came from so you can find it again. Do not import content you are not permitted to use.
Kitchive Pro
- Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown in the App Store, in your local currency, before you purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it at any time in your Apple Account's subscription settings.
- Pro adds thirty AI reads a day, up to twelve photos per recipe, and iCloud sync. Writing, saving, scaling, cooking, searching and organising — and every on-device import — stay free and unlimited without it. Your recipes are never held behind a subscription; export works on every tier.
- AI reads are subject to fair-use ceilings that protect the service for everyone. They are described in the privacy policy and, in normal use, are never met.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the content you save and for keeping backups of your data. The app provides export, import and optional iCloud sync for that purpose.
- Do not use the app, or its server, in violation of applicable law, or in a way that interferes with the service for others.
Disclaimer
The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Because your recipes are stored on your device and in your own iCloud, we cannot recover data lost through device loss, deletion of the app, or failure to keep backups. Recipes read or proposed by AI may contain errors.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of the app, including from cooking a recipe the app read or proposed. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or excludes rights consumers hold under mandatory law.
